Catherine’s first speech to formally open The Treehouse

(Personal note: I got rather emotional knowing she had to be nervous and this was going to be watched by the world. She did a phenomenal job and I am so proud of her.)

Duke and Duchess of Cambridge take part in military ceremony

The Irish Guards received their operational medals for Afghanistan from The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge at a ceremony in Windsor.

The Duke and Duchess were both seen chatting with the guardsmen as they handed out the medals at Victoria Barracks.

Earlier in the day, the 1st Battalion Irish Guards marched through the town and attended a Service of Remembrance in St George’s Chapel before being joined by the royal couple.

It marked the couple’s first visit to the regiment, of which the Duke became colonel earlier this year.

The Irish Guards returned in April from a six month tour in Afghanistan during which they were deployed with the mission of developing the Afghan army. They suffered three fatalities on the tour, all from enemy action.
